I’m Melanie! Founder and owner of Mexico by Mel. Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is where I was born and raised, and where I still call home. Aside from being a travel agent, I’m a manager at a high-end cigar lounge. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Studies which has really enriched my experiences in Mexico - knowing some of the history and being able to speak the language has been a definite asset. I’m privileged to be affiliated with Fareconnect and the Ensemble Travel Consortium, which enables me access to exclusive resources and perks.

My love for travel blossomed with a family trip to Cuba in my early teens and has only proceeded to grow over the years. I quickly learned that my wanderlust was unparalleled within my friend group, and at the age of 19 my solo adventures began. During my first trip to Mexico, I knew I had found my home away from home. Outside of my professional endeavours, I enjoy reading, rollerblading, and anything to do with food - eating it, making it, discussing it - to me an amazing meal is one of life’s greatest joys and one of the most enriching parts of travel.

I started this travel consulting business with 3 missions in mind. One is to be able to show others Mexico through my eyes and why I’ve come to love it so deeply. The next is to support individuals with travel aspirations and provide them with the encouragement they need to adventure on their own. Lastly, to help women feel confident and unstoppable and to help them grow through the power of solo exploration.
